West Chester, Ohio trustees are working on a resolution that will establish the township as a right-to-work jurisdiction, a move recently sanctioned by a federal appeals court opinion that opened right-to-work status up to cities and limited home-rule townships. Ohio is currently not a right-to-work state. The trustees feel the resolution will make them more attractive to businesses while unions say right-to-work laws weaken their bargaining power and lead to lower wages and benefits.
